Boarded by steep granite peaks, these lakes will definitely be a sight to see. In the spring you can also catch backcountry skiers hiking and skiing down Fletcher Peak!
  3. Hanging Lake, located in Glenwood Springs, sits at a much lower elevation, so the trail is generally free of snow early spring. Though short, this 1.7 mile hike is sure to leave you not only breathless after climbing stairs, but after once you reach the lake. The turquoise water suspended is a must see!
  4. Located directly across from Mt. Bierstadt, Square Top Lakes trail is a mellow 4.6 mile hike that takes you through the high alpine to two square lakes. On the ridge line you can often see mountain goats traveling! Additionally, the site of Mt. Bierstadt is stunning!
  5. Near Idaho Springs and closer to the Front Range St. Mary’s Glacier is often a trail free of snow early spring. This 1.8 mile trail brings you directly to the base of the glacier and rests at an alpine. If one is so inclined, you can even hike to the top of the glacier and either ski or hike down even into the late summer!
