5 Things to Pack When Rafting the Upper Colorado

Are you planning on rafting the Upper Colorado this summer and are curious of what to pack?! Well worry no more! Here is a list that we have put together for you here at CRR of the top 5 things you will need to pack for a comfortable, successful rafting trip.

ABC_9345What to wear? If you are going guideless, you may need to make sure you rent wetsuits, splash jackets, PFDs and helmets. If you are enjoying a guided trip with us, Colorado River Rentals provides the gear for you! That includes helmets, wetsuits, splash jackets and PFDs. If you are curious of what to wear underneath the wetsuit, you can wear any type of dry fit/athletic wear or even bathing suits. Remember footwear is very important! So, make sure to have some sort of closed toed or water shoe! These items can also be purchased at the CRR outpost.

Sunglasses! You want to make sure to protect those precious eyes of yours! There is almost 300 days of sunshine out here in the Colorful State of Colorado. With that being said, make sure to always have a pair of sunglasses with you while you are on the water. Make sure not to bring an expensive pair, as there is always a possibility of them getting ruined or lost. Another great invention are croakies that will secure your sunglasses around your neck and are available for purchase at the outposts.

Lather Yourself Up with Sunblock! This is very important because of how the sunlight reflects off the water, making it very easy to get sunburnt! So remember buy it, bring it, use it and reapply it, all day long!

upper c familyWaterproof Cameras/GoPro. Don’t you want to have these memories forever? With all of the excitement and pure joy going on, your waterproof camera will be able to capture that moment forever! Our guided trips have professional photographers taking snapshots along the riverside, but if you happen to be renting gear from Colorado River Rentals, then make sure to bring your own camera and have all these epic memories to look back on in the future!

Medication/H2O. It is very important to make the CRR guides aware of any medical conditions anyone in your group may have. Also remember to stay hydrated! Being active at a higher altitude can definitely drain you, so just be conscious and on top of staying hydrated.
