What To Do On The Hottest Days of Summer

If you’re stuck somewhere where the temperatures are scorching, the humidity is at an all time high, and your AC can’t get you cool enough then you should consider visiting the Rocky Mountains.  Boasting a dry climate with little to no humidity, cool mountain air, and temperatures that rarely reach over 80 degrees, the mountains are the place to go to get away from the hottest days of summer.  When the hottest days of summer reach the mountains do as the locals do and get yourself on the water!

IMG_17 (4)Rafting:  You’ll find rafting communities throughout the mountains but none like Buena Vista.  The Arkansas River runs through this gem of a town and offers a plethora of difficulty levels to tackle on a raft.  Be smart, go with a guide and wear lots of sunscreen!

Kayaking: The monumental Colorado River which runs through the majestic Grand Canyon can also be found in the Centennial state.  Guided inflatable kayak tours are available on the Upper Colorado River out of Kremmling, Colorado which is about one hour from Summit County and two hours from Denver.  Cool yourself down on this mellow river and check out the incredible alpine scenery and wildlife.

Stand Up Paddle Boards: Stand Up Paddleboarding is a fantastic way to get in a workout, work on your summer tan and cool off with some refreshing alpine water.  Join a guided tour and challenge yourself for a half day or push the limits with a full day!
