Closest Hot Springs to the Upper Colorado

The Upper Colorado River is a popular destination for rafting and kayaking, but it is also home to a pool of hot springs located right on the banks of the river! Named after the popular rafting town not far away, Radium Hot Springs contains water that averages about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the time of year. Radium is a little cooler than most natural hot springs because the cooler river water mixes with the springs and moves freely within the pool.  Another great thing about these hot springs is that you can rent a Raft, Kayak or Stand Up Paddle Board or any other necessary gear and make an entire day of adventure!

To hike to Radium, it is roughly a 1 mile trip and may take you up to an hour. This trail varies in difficulty from easy to steep, so make sure you bring your athletic shoes or hiking boots, as there is sure to be a little adventure involved! If those in your group aren’t inclined to take a 1 mile hike before and after a hot springs session, there is also a Jeep trail that you may take. The only thing about the Jeep trail is that all vehicles must be parked at the top of the hill down to the springs, as there are no vehicles allowed below this point. Radium can be accessed year round, and there are campsites nearby if you are looking to make an overnight camping trip out of it. You can choose from natural no-fee sites where you are on your own in the wild or head over to the Radium campground if you’re seeking something with a small offering of amenities!
