We Open This Weekend/Memorial Day Rentals

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner. Falling around late May, this is a great time of year to enjoy the mountains and water. The weather will be drastically warming up and the water will be on the rise creating perfect river conditions. This will be a fun-filled weekend on the Upper Colorado River and surrounding areas.

If you’re travelling and can’t bring along any of your gear that will not be a problem. At Colorado River Rentals we carry frameless rafts in three different sizes of 12,14, and 16 feet. If you’re looking for an experience other than rafting we have inflatable kayaks, better known as duckies. We carry duckies for a single person or two people, so you and your friend can enjoy some teamwork building through paddling. If you’re not looking for teamwork or just don’t want to paddle a single kayak, we have SUPs for rent. A stand-up paddle board will be a balancing act when you first give it a try but it is easily picked up after paddling around for a short period. Just be sure to keep in mind that you’ll more than likely go swimming if it’s your first time on a paddle board.

Let’s talk about where you should get in the water. The Lower Blue River is a great option for experienced paddlers come late May. Being at a lower elevation the snow melt will be in full force fueling the river. Running with great conditions between Silverthorne and Kremmling, this is a convenient location for Memorial Day rafting. You’ll have options to raft through scenic stretches from Silverthorne up to Green Mountain Reservoir or you can raft through “Jurassic Park,” an 8 mile stretch below the reservoir known for the monster fish inhabiting it. You’ll be looking at class II and III rapids down this river, so don’t be expecting anything too crazy.

Another more mild,  experience would be the Upper Colorado River right by where you’ll get your rental gear. This is one of the more scenic areas of Colorado with beautiful open canyons, bald eagles, mule deer, pronghorn, big horn sheep, and elk that move late in the day. Many different campgrounds are along this river as well, if you’re looking for an overnight experience.

If you’re looking to reserve your rafting gear for this weekend or anytime during the summer give us a call at Colorado River Rentals 970-423-7031 and we’ll get you outfitted for your rafting and camping needs.
