We (me included!!?) all usually think we are in a little better shape than we are, so don’t overshoot your expectations. The river is a fierce beast in the summertime and you need to know your boundaries. The rapids aren’t shy and if you choose a Class III rafting trip or above, you will be paddling most all the time. Make sure on a higher level trip, your entire group can swim and are in decent shape.

For a lower level trip, such as a float trip, some of the best are on the Colorado River. We suggest checking out the Colorado River float trips with AVA Rafting. You and the family can take a little break and the paddling will be minimal. So, if you’re looking for scenery, beauty and relaxation, this is the way to go! Just don’t forget the sunscreen! In general no matter what level trip you looking for make sure you are prepared for it physically, mentally, and understand the level of the trip in general.

With so many options around this great state, where you choose to raft is super important. There are so many places to explore, making the location decision a tough one. Well we’re here to help! Check out AVA Rafting for rafting options all across Colorful Colorado. For the city folk, check out Clear Creek in Idaho Springs. Just a hop, skip and jump from Denver, all you have to do is hop in the car and head 45 minutes to this challenging and scenic river to raft through historic Idaho Springs and beyond. If a mountain adventure is your cup of tea, head to Buena Vista, Colorado. Take the extra drive to see the snow capped Collegiate peaks in all their glory as you raft down in between stunning cliffs and canyons. Don’t forget to keep an eye on those Big Horn sheep lurking above! If a more quiet float is on your radar, head to Kremmling, Colorado and enjoy the history of the Colorado River as you float down among the serenity of the Rockies. No matter where you choose to raft make sure you know how far and how much you want to travel to make your memories happen.

SET REALISTIC EXPECTATIONSupper c family
When dealing with Mother Nature, you never quite know what to expect. Be aware that conditions can and will change at any time, so be prepared for anything while you’re out there. Some trips at high water season are more challenging than expected, and some trips at low water times might not be as exciting as promised. Make sure you contact a rafting expert before your trip to ensure you know exactly what conditions may be encountered.

Strap your helmet on, get the camera ready and pick that perfect trip that will make Rocky Mountain memories last forever. Good luck!
