Don’t Forget! 5 Items to Pack When You Raft the Upper Colorado

So you’re rafting the Upper Colorado River and have a few questions about what to pack and bring with you before your adventure? Well fortunately for you, we at AVA have made a handy-dandy list to ensure the best rafting experience for you and your family.

Attire

At AVA your gear is always included (wetsuits, splash jackets, PFDs, and helmets). Once the wetsuits fill up with water they keep you insulated and very warm. As a result, you just have to wear a bathing suit underneath. For footwear, flip flops and crocs are no-nos of the rafting world. However, Tevas, Chacos, old tennis shoes, and water shoes are all good with us!rafting clothes

Sunblock
Sunlight reflects right off the water, making it very easy to get sunburnt. Sunscreen is your friend. Bring it, use it, reapply it!

 Waterproocliff jumpingf Cameras

Your kids will be smiling the entire trip. You have to capture their enjoyment of the cliff jumps, hot springs, and water gun fights that  have been known to break out while on the Upper C. What better way to do that then bring your own waterproof camera and don’t  worry if you forget to bring your own, we have them for sale at our outpost.

Sunglasses

With almost 300 days of sunshine a year, Colorado is one bright state. Make sure you protect your eyes with a pair of sunglasses. Be  careful though the river tends to have expensive taste. To ensure that sunglasses stay on your head and do not end up in the river make  sure you have a pair of croakies, or straps that keep them secure.

 Medication
If you and any of your family members have any health conditions that our guides should be aware of, let them know! As much as our guides enjoy surprises and excitement, they like  keeping everyone safe even more. Pull one of our guides aside and let them know any information that may be needed to help keep you safe.

The Upper Colorado River is home to some of the best views in the area, as well as some of the best rafting. Proper packing can help make or break your river trip. To ensure a fun and exciting adventure take a peak at this list after booking to make sure you do not forget anything.
