How To Pack For Your Rafting Trip

Posted by on Aug 9, 2015 in Rafting

We are looking forward to your upcoming rafting trip, and hope you are too! All of your equipment for rafting is included for free for your comfort and convenience except shoes (for hygienic purposes). Let’s make sure you know how to pack and prepare for your upcoming rafting trip with AVA.

11001901_10153137257009602_4456474379244574949_nFor everyone to enjoy their time out on the water we provide wetsuits, splash jackets, life jackets, and helmets for free. Footwear must be secure shoes that can get wet – NO FLIP FLOPS OR CROCS! Tennis shoes and water shoes (Chaco, Teva, Keen, etc.) work great. If you are worried about your feet getting cold we do have water booties that are similar to the wetsuit that are available for purchase at our outposts and fit underneath your shoes.

Our wetsuits are similar to overalls; they cut off at your ankles and go over your shoulders. The splash jackets cover your arms and have a strap to secure around your neck. Under the wetsuit we recommend wearing some synthetic type material (swim trunks, workout clothing, etc.) that dries quickly once wet. We advise to avoid cotton and jeans at all costs because when those items get wet, they stay that way. AVA wants everyone to have the most pleasurable experience possible by putting your comfort first!

Definitely pack the sunscreen especially visiting a high altitude environment. Feel free to wear a baseball cap under your helmet. You are more than welcome to wear sunglasses to protect those eyeballs but we recommend wearing chubbies (straps that attach behind your neck to secure your sunglasses). If you do not have these, we have them available for purchase at our outpost.

1068Our full day trips do include delicious lunches so you will be fully fed on those trips. For those of you taking a half day trip, I would recommend munching on a little something before your trip and bring a snack or two for after. You could even bring some beer to enjoy after your rafting trip. I’ll guarantee your guide will not turn down a nice cold beer after a long day out on the water!

Make sure to plan ahead by packing accordingly before making your way to raft our beautiful rivers. If you still have questions about what to bring, feel free to give any of our awesome reservation agents a call and we will be happy to assist you! 877-RAFTING
