Vail Whitewater Race Series
It is almost that time of year again for the annual Vail Whitewater Race Series hosted by Alpine Quest Sports and Vail Recreation District. This is a great time for adventurous athletes to come out and show their talent on the water! If you have what it takes to win the “Golden Paddle” then suit up and grab your kayak, two-person raft or stand up paddle board and get ready for this head to head race!
When: Starting on May 10th – June 7th, taking place on every Tuesday. Race day registration begins at 4:30 pm at the Vail Whitewater Park at International Bridge. Races start at the Covered Bridge and end at International Bridge. Parking available in the Vail Village parking structure. Races all start at 5:30pm. Don’t be late!
Who: Everyone! Ages 16 years and up and intermediate to expert abilities are allowed to participate in The Vail Whitewater Race Series. Each paddler needs the proper skills to run class III whitewater and can choose desired craft. This is great for competitors who are wanting to know their individual performance and progress throughout the series. It is required that all competitors know they are entering at their own risk!
Why: Why not? If you are a skilled kayaker, rafter or paddle boarder then why not show off your skills. Also, this year introduces a new Team Competition to the series. Teams are composed of at least four athletes to compete in the kayak, two-person raft and SUP divisions. Points will be given based on team members individual points earned throughout each race. The most points accumulated in one team over the series will be crowned as the Champions and will be rewarded with a “Golden Paddle”.
