Lunch Ideas for the River

Whether you are spending a couple hours or a couple days on the river, food is a must. Long days make for hungry people and it’s best that you are prepared before the hunger sets in. Rafting, kayaking, swimming or fishing can certainly wear you out. However, food fuels us for more fun. With AVA’s guided full day and overnight trips, food is all included. However, if hitting the river solo take a look at these awesome lunch ideas for your river adventure!

If you are going on a non commercial trip, some ideas are to stick with basic healthy food to get you energy. Foods high in protein such as peanut butter and deli meats work great! While you don’t want to bring a flank steak, or rack of lamb, a peanut butter sandwich with some sliced bananas will certainly keep you going. Even a classic deli sandwich will work! However, be mindful of the water, no one likes a soggy sandwich, so be sure to double bag or store in a cargo box.
